Manchester United reportedly look likely to have interest in Joshua Zirkzee in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Red Devils’ current stance is that they don’t want to let Zirkzee go, but it seems this will not put West Ham United off from trying their luck.
That’s according to iNews, who state that the Hammers will likely push to bring in Zirkzee on loan for the second half of the season.
The report adds that other clubs are also interested in Zirkzee, including Roma and others from Serie A.
As previously reported in an exclusive here for the Daily Briefing, there is also interest in Zirkzee from Aston Villa, Brighton, AC Milan, Juventus, and Como.
Even if United would ideally like to have the squad depth that someone like Zirkzee brings, it might be hard to persuade him to carry on with that kind of role in a World Cup year.
The Netherlands international might be in with a chance of playing for his country in the tournament in the States next summer, but not if he’s only warming the bench at Old Trafford.
West Ham could be a good option to give Zirkzee more playing time, but it will be interesting to see if they can succeed in getting a deal done.
It might be that unless Zirkzee pushes really hard for a transfer, he’ll simply be told that he has to stay where he is.
The 24-year-old might have to risk upsetting a few people at United if he is to get what he wants, or else he’ll have to really do his best when he gets on the pitch to show Ruben Amorim that he should be starting more games.
It’s no secret, however, that Zirkzee has struggled since joining the Red Devils and a move away probably looks like the best thing for his career at this stage.
