Crystal Palace want at least €50 million for Tottenham Hotspur target Marc Guehi

Tottenham Hotspur’s hunt for defensive reinforcements has brought Marc Guéhi firmly into the spotlight, and for good reason. According to Fichajes, the Crystal Palace centre-back is now officially on the market, with the South London club setting a price tag of €50 million as interest from Premier League rivals heats up.

The 25-year-old has been one of the Premier League’s most consistent defenders over the past two seasons, and his stock rose even further after a standout showing at the European Championship. Palace know they have a prized asset on their hands, but with Guéhi’s contract running down and no extension on the horizon, the time to cash in may be now.

For Tottenham, the interest in Guéhi makes perfect sense. Thomas Frank wants a reliable partner to complement Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, and Guéhi ticks every box. Calm under pressure, strong in the air, and tactically sound, he brings both Premier League experience and international pedigree.

With Eric Dier long gone and doubts lingering around the depth of Spurs’ defensive options, the need for a ball-playing, composed centre-back has only grown more urgent. Guéhi is not only a short-term upgrade but also a long-term investment. And crucially, he fits the age profile of the squad Tottenham are building, young, hungry, and already proven at the top level.

Crystal Palace have made it clear they’re open to business, but not at a discount. The €50 million demand is steep, especially with Guéhi entering the final stretch of his deal. Still, they know the market value of an England international with years of top-flight football under his belt.

That said, the timing may favor Tottenham. As the weeks tick by, Palace may be forced to soften their stance rather than risk losing him for far less in a year’s time. Spurs are monitoring the situation closely and could pounce if Palace blink first.

Chelsea and Newcastle United Also Lurking

While Tottenham’s interest appears serious, they’re not alone. Chelsea, Guéhi’s former club, have kept tabs but are reportedly closing in on Ajax’s Jorrel Hato, which could cool their pursuit. Newcastle United are also in the mix, though their squad-building process is more constrained due to Financial Fair Play considerations.

In contrast, Spurs remain agile in the market. The loan move for Joao Palhinha shows how smart deals can be struck under Frank’s guidance. If Spurs offload a couple of squad players, there may be just enough financial room to meet Palace’s demand and land a crucial defensive signing.

A signing worth the gamble

Guéhi would be a major coup for Tottenham, not just a signing, but a statement. He’s a player who could help solidify the backline for seasons to come. And with Thomas Frank steering the rebuild, it’s clear Spurs are targeting not just talent, but temperament and intelligence too. More so, beating the likes of Liverpool will also show faith players have in our project.

Whether a deal materializes may depend on how long Crystal Palace can hold their nerve. But make no mistake, Tottenham are circling, and Guéhi is firmly on their radar.
