Injury expert endorses Tottenham move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa

New Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank is getting to grips with his squad after replacing Ange Postecoglou and appears keen to strengthen in attack.

The Lilywhites are already in talks with West Ham United for Mohammed Kudus and could add another forward to their roster. This is because of several Spurs forwards failing to live up to their standards last season. Son Heung-min, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert endured injury-ravaged campaigns, while Mathys Tel—on loan from Bayern Munich from February 2025, blew hot and cold. Yet, the club have decided to turn Tel’s loan into a permanent deal.

It is clear that these options are not enough if Tottenham are to compete in multiple fronts next season, including in the Champions League. And Daniel Levy must take note of that and bring in a forward who’d not only provide valuable depth but also compete with Dominic Solanke for a spot in Thomas Frank’s first XI.

It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites were interested in signing Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. The DR Congo international has performed consistently well during his time at the Gtech Community Stadium. He built a fantastic partnership with Bryan Mbeumo up front last season, with the duo creating and scoring plenty of goals.

Yoane Wissa ended the 2024/25 campaign with 19 goals and four assists in 35 Premier League outings. He has excelled under Frank’s tutelage at Brentford, so it is quite clear why the Danish tactician wants to lure him across the capital.

Dr Rajpal Brar backs Yoane Wissa to clear medical at Tottenham

Dr Rajpal Brar has now given a fitness update on Wissa ahead of a potential move this summer. The injury expert claims the 28-year-old is not expected to face an obstacle clearing his medical at Tottenham, regardless of suffering an ankle injury last season.

“He had an ankle injury last season, but it was minor as he missed only three games,” Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.

“Apart from that, he featured in the remaining 35 league games and recovered pretty well from that setback.

“Wissa should have no issues clearing his medical or adapting to Spurs as he’s got decent Premier League experience under his belt, so he understands the league and its demands.”

Thomas Frank would like to reunite with Wissa at Tottenham

Wissa suffered an ankle injury that kept him out of action for only three games, meaning Brentford did not miss his services for long. Overall, the African forward’s fitness record since arriving in the Premier League, with him missing eight games combined with DR Congo due to an ankle issue back in his debut season.

Having developed him at his former club, it is not surprising that Frank remains keen to reunite with Wissa at Spurs. He can maximise the 28-year-old’s potential by using his pace, directness and constant pressing across the front line. The Bees’ star, with his physicality and engine, could be a strong option to cover and compete with Solanke for the No.9 spot.

The Congolese’s development under Frank, coupled with his acquaintance with the 51-year-old’s tactical demands, would make him an excellent fit at White Hart Lane.
