Tottenham will have to shatter their transfer record to sign Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo

Tottenham Hotspur have secured Champions League football for the 2025/26 season after winning the Europa League, despite finishing the Premier League season in 17th place.

The decision was made to sack head coach Ange Postecoglou as a result, with Thomas Frank set to be appointed as his successor, and now Daniel Levy’s next immediate focus will be the recruitment. Players that fit into Thomas Frank’s system and playing style will be brought into N17, whilst players who are surplus to requirements are expected to be moved on.

There is no surprise that the North Londoners are looking to bring in attacking reinforcements for next season. This is because of several attackers enduring underwhelming individual campaigns, and with Son Heung-min’s powers waning, Richarlison facing an uncertain future and Timo Werner also sent back to RB Leipzig, Spurs could do well with the addition of a versatile forward.

Tottenham have been among several Premier League clubs to have shown an interest in signing Bournemouth wide-man Antoine Semenyo. The 25-year-old enjoyed a fantastic 2024/25 campaign, delivering 13 goals and six assists in 42 games. He was one of the Cherries’ most productive performers, helping the team mount a surprise European challenge under Andoni Iraola. The London-born talent ended the season on a particularly strong note, registering five goal contributions in his final seven league outings.

The Ghanaian international’s rise in stature as a speedy, physical and athletic winger with eye for goal has put several clubs on red alert. His representatives have seemingly started drumming up interest by meeting several top Premier League outfits.

Now, according to talkSPORT’s Transfer notebook, Antoine Semenyo’s advisors have met chairman Daniel Levy recently to discuss a potential move to Tottenham. Spurs have been told they will have to break their transfer record to sign the Bournemouth star, who is valued at around £70million.

After enhancing his stock at the Vitality Stadium, Antoine Semenyo will be harbouring hopes of playing in the Champions League and competing for trophies. Having won the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League, Tottenham could be an attractive destination for the African winger.

However, the aforementioned report adds Bournemouth are in no rush to sell Semenyo following Dean Huijsen’s move to Real Madrid for £50m, and are therefore standing firm on their hefty valuation of their star forward.

This means if Tottenham decide to meet the South Coast club’s demands, Semenyo would become the club’s most expensive signing ever, eclipsing the £65m they paid the Cherries for striker Dominic Solanke last summer. Regardless of a productive term and all positive signs that his trajectory from here is only upwards, £70million is too much for the Ghana forward. If Levy can negotiate well and bring that price down to £60million, a move for him would then be reasonable.
