Juventus legend Michel Platini feels coach Igor Tudor is not getting the best out of Kenan Yildiz. ‘You’d have to ask the coaches why they do that, not me.’
The former player and ex President of UEFA was a guest at the Festival dello Sport in Trento this evening, where he was interviewed on stage.
Among the questions asked, he was pressed on the status of those who followed in the iconic Juventus Number 10 jersey.
“Alessandro Del Piero, he was a great player, and one of the icons of Juventus,” replied Platini.
Paul Pogba was also given the shirt, but had even fewer of the necessary characteristics for this position.
“He has good technique, but he’s a midfielder, not a Number 10.”
Now Kenan Yildiz has been awarded the very special honour of wearing the Juventus 10 jersey.
Although he is very creative, his positioning under Tudor has raised a few eyebrows so far this season.
“Nobody puts a Number 10 in the centre now, but on the wings. You’d have to ask coaches why they do that, not me,” shrugged Platini.
When Argentina international Paulo Dybala was in the Number 10, he did namecheck and thank Platini as a player he adored from the past.
“I thank him for that, I was told about it.”
