AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega has talked about the importance of setting an example when representing a club like the Rossoneri.

The midfielder was speaking at the Enzo Tortora auditorium in Milan for the ‘All the Colours of Sport’ initiative (via Milan News). Hundreds of secondary school children were present for the talk from Tomori and Milan teammate Tommaso Pobega.

The meeting was mediated by Pierluigi Pardo and it was officially supported by AC Milan as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Whilst Tomori shared his thoughts on racism in football, Pobega spoke about how there is pressure on him and other Milan players to be positive role models for younger players.

“We have the fortune and honour of wearing a glorious shirt that has made football history. It was worn first by men, then by footballers. By wearing it, we must set an example: we are lucky enough to have this visibility, so we must send positive messages to the little ones to help them in their growth,” Pobega said.

Pobega has not had the chance to set an example on the pitch much this season because he has been recovering from a serious injury. He should be back on the pitch in April though, which provides Stefano Pioli with a fresh option in the midfield.

Pobega is also able to play at centre-back when needed which makes him a very versatile player that any coach would like in their squad.
