'Poor preparation'- Daniel Levy backed to make Ange Postecoglou decision in two weeks

Ange Postecoglou is unlikely to be the Tottenham boss beyond the ongoing season

Tottenham Hotspur have just not got going, and it looks like the domestic campaign is a foregone conclusion.

Ange Postecoglou’s men have broken all the unwanted records and sit 16th in the league table. With four league fixtures left to play, there is a strong possibility that the Lilywhites end the season a place above the relegation zone.

Fans’ frustration has been spilling for months now, with displeasure directed towards chairman Daniel Levy and owners ENIC. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has certainly not improved the results and performances since the turn of the year, leading to a huge cloud of uncertainty hanging right above his head.

Yet, the Greek-Aussie tactician’s team are in the Europa League semi-finals, where they will cross swords against Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt. They have a great opportunity to finish the season on a high and end their 17-year-long trophy drought.

However, regardless of the outcome against Bodo/Glimt, it appears as though Daniel Levy has seen enough after a torrid domestic campaign. Even if Tottenham go all the way and win the Europa League at San Mames, Levy is expected to fire Ange Postecoglou. This is perhaps because the team has barely made any progress in the Premier League in Ange’s second season at N17 and were thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, which led to a club-record-equalling 19th league defeat of the campaign.

And reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham felt the team’s performance in the defeat to Liverpool was “completely unacceptable”. He expects there is no way back for Big Ange and expects him to be sacked in the coming weeks.

“I wasn’t expecting us to go to Anfield and win,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.

“Some of the club’s most successful managers couldn’t win there. Therefore, I wasn’t expecting Postecoglou, who I expect to be sacked in a couple of weeks, to be the man to win at Anfield.

“However, the performance was completely unacceptable. I don’t see how that will instil confidence in the players ahead of the Europa League. We’re now going into this enormous game on Thursday off the back of a home defeat against Nottingham Forest and a thrashing at Anfield. It is poor preparation.”

It was an awful afternoon at Anfield for Ange and his boys, and they have had plenty of bad days in the office this season. Spurs are yet to hit the 40-point mark in the league after 34 games, which in itself is an embarrassment and sackable offence.

Big Ange made wholesale changes to his squad against Liverpool, which highlighted that his full focus is on the Europa League. Even if Tottenham go on to lift the Europa League trophy in May, Levy has seen enough and will part ways with Big Ange. The veteran tactician has demonstrated that he isn’t cut out to manage in the Premier League.
