After the first nine games of the Premier League season, the 20 best players based purely on statistics have been ranked.
Arsenal currently lead Enzo Maresca's Manchester City in the title race after a first win at Anfield in 14 years. Mikel Arteta's side are looking to secure back-to-back titles after going over 20 years without any.
At the other end of the table, Manchester United are just two points above the bottom of the table after just one win in nine games.
Erling Haaland leads the goalscoring charts, netting nine times whilst Alexander Isak follows closely behind with six goals.
But who has been the best performer so far this season? Using football analysts WhoScored, we have the top 20 players so far in the Premier League this season.
Bournemouth are on an incredible run after an inconsistent start to the season. The Cherries have kept three successive clean sheets in the Premier League against Sunderland, Manchester United and Leeds. James Hill has been an ever-present in that run under Marco Rose.
Nicolas Jackson is undergoing a phenomenal career resurrection at Villa Park. The Senegalese forward is loving life after reuniting with Unai Emery. He's repaid his manager with five goals in his first eight games for Aston Villa, earning a 7.21 rating in the process.
Maxim De Cuyper joined Brighton last summer, as another one of their scouting department's acute purchases. After making a strong start last season, he has continued into this season, scoring twice and assisting three times. He isn't the only player in the Brighton squad to feature on this list, as the Seagulls enjoy a brilliant start under Fabian Hurzeler.
Pascal Gross made a triumphant return to Brighton in 2026, and is playing the best football of his career at 35. Playing almost every minute so far this season, the German has assisted four times and scored three goals, playing a key part in the Seagulls' strong start.
Newcastle United's Lewis Hall earns himself a spot on the list. The former Chelsea player has impressed during his time on Tyneside, and his form has continued.
He's assisted once and scored once this season, as well as picking up a Man of the Match award. He was linked with Manchester United in the summer, and Newcastle could be facing a tough battle next transfer window to keep hold of their left-back.
Jamie Carragher hailed Declan Rice as the best midfielder in the Premier League after Arsenal's narrow win at Liverpool. The Englishman was a hot contender for the Player of the Year award last term, and has continued to boss midfields across the country.
Diego Gomez's halfway line goal is enough to secure a place among the division's best performers this season. The midfielder has become vital to Hurzeler's well-oiled machine. His 7.27 rating is even better than fellow midfielder Rice.
Muharemovic has been a fine addition to Daniel Farke's Leeds squad, joining in the Summer. The defender has been a rock at the back, picking up a Man of the Match award, whilst also assisting twice so far. It cost £35 million to bring the defender to Elland Road from Sassuolo, and he is certainly living up to the price tag so far.
After an injury-ridden season last year, Bukayo Saka has returned to his usual self this season, as he aims to help Arsenal defend their status as Premier League champions.
In 599 minutes, he has scored three goals for the Gunners, whilst being named Man of the Match once. His return to top form will be a huge boost for Mikel Arteta's side.
Luka Vuskovic was seen as one for the future at Tottenham. But Brighton swooped in and showed the Croatian is ready to make a name for himself in the top flight. At just 19, he's started every game on the Seagulls' way to the top four, and registered an impressive 7.28 rating so far.
His antics sometimes get on the nerves of rival supporters, but there's no doubting how rock-solid Gabriel Magalhaes has been for Mikel Arteta. The Brazilian finished in the 2026 Ballon d'Or top 30, and has earned two Man of the Match awards in nine Premier League matches.
After the first few games of the 2026-27 season, no one would've believed a Tottenham defender would be in the top 10 of this list. Jan Paul van Hecke has actually outperformed his replacement at Brighton (Vuskovic), although his two goals will help towards his high rating.
Morgan Rogers is next up on the list, as he has enjoyed a fine start to his Chelsea career since joining the Blues from Aston Villa during the summer in a move worth over £110 million. Rogers scored in his opening game and has since added four goals and one assist. He has already formed a good duo with Cole Palmer in the Chelsea attack.
Evanilson has been unplayable at times during Bournemouth's recent run of form. The Brazilian has never been the most clinical forward in the league, but has scored four and assisted four in just nine games this term.
Rayan Cherki has started four times this season, whilst coming off the bench once. Although he has only played 477 minutes so far, he has still managed to score four times and assist twice, picking up one Man of the Match award along the way.
Hull City star, Mohamed Belloumi, has exceeded all expectations this season, being a key player to the Tigers' strong start. Belloumi has scored three goals this season, with two coming against Chelsea. He has also received one Man of the Match award in his five starts. Not bad for a player in a squad that everyone predicted to be relegated this season.

A surprise name gets a spot inside the top four. Tarkowski has played every minute this season and has scored once and assisted once so far. He has also been named Man of the Match once, considerably bumping up his average rating. The Toffees have kept three clean sheets this season, as Tarkowski remains a mainstay in David Moyes' side.
It was only a matter of time before he showed up on this list. Haaland is unsurprisingly the top goalscorer in the top flight this season, scoring nine goals. Despite his goals, the other areas of the game drag down his average rating, which is why he only gets number three on this list.

Haaland is beaten by one of his fellow Man City attackers this season. Jeremy Doku's game time has been limited by injury, but he's made a big impact when he has been able to get on the pitch. The Belgian winger smashed in a stunning effort against Liverpool at Anfield.
Joao Pedro has been a key part of Xabi Alonso's start to life as Chelsea manager, with the Brazilian playing six times. Playing just 522 minutes so far, Pedro has scored five goals and assisted three times already. His relationship with Palmer and Rogers has been a revelation at Stamford Bridge.
