Premier League Forward Rejects Late Serie A Move

Joshua Zirkzee stays at Manchester United. That isn’t a guess. It’s the only conclusion that holds up when you stress-test every moving part of this transfer.

Start with Juventus. Their entire approach rests on David leaving Turin first. For that chain of events to work, Juventus need to locate a buyer for David, agree a fee, sort his travel and medical, and then get back to United with a proper offer, all within hours.

David has no advanced negotiations active with any club. The window closed on that sequence before it opened. Juventus cannot clear the wage bill or free a squad slot in time, so their approach to United tonight is essentially a phone call in the dark.

Then there’s what Zirkzee’s own actions tell you. Turning down Fiorentina wasn’t a difficult call. He’s not interested in a rushed exit to a mid-table Serie A side that doesn’t represent a step forward.

Should Man Utd let Zirkzee go?

His underlying numbers, despite the thin output on the scoresheet, still show a player with genuine quality. He recorded 1.36 progressive passes per 90 and won 48.2% of his ground duels, metrics that suggest he retains value in United’s attacking structure.

United’s own position matters too. Letting Zirkzee go on a loan with no guarantee of a permanent sale would leave Benjamin Sesko as the only senior striker available. They paid Bologna €42.5m for Zirkzee.

Accepting a conditional loan from Juventus, a club that couldn’t even complete the identical deal structure with Newcastle, recovers nothing and creates a real problem up front.

Juventus are covering their bases, not making a serious run. Zirkzee rejected the only concrete offer on the table. United have no incentive to negotiate with a club that can’t guarantee a purchase.
