The summer transfer window is drawing ever closer. While audiences gear up for the end of the Premier League season and the World Cup, scouting networks are working feverishly.

A quintet of Premier League clubs have recently been credited with an interest in a player who currently plays for Juventus in Serie A.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all thought to be interested in a move for Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso, following an outstanding season for the Old Lady.

TEAMtalk reported interest from United, Liverpool and Arsenal, while journalist Niko Di Natale claimed that City and Spurs are in the hunt on his official X (formerly Twitter) page.

But why are these five top teams so keen on a move for the player? Let’s take a look at his statistics from this season and see.

As we can see, Cambiaso has plenty of strings to his bow. He is a competent defender who possesses excellent attacking attributes – furthermore, he is very two-footed and can function effectively in a variety of positions.

His key strengths lay in his attacking acumen, but he can be erractic with his decision making. This sort of weakness will be exposed in a league as demanding as the Premier League – he will need to be more consistent if he wishes to secure a move to one of the division’s top teams.

He had a very promising start to life at Juve, but fans’ opinions have seemingly begun to sour on him during the last few months. Perhaps a change of scenery will benefit him? Only time will tell.

He is under contract until the summer of 2029, so any team looking to snap him up may have to fork out a sizeable fee for his services. As things stand, it is unclear how much Juventus will require for him to leave the club.

Who would benefit the most from Andrea Cambiaso’s arrival?

Out of all the teams mentioned, Tottenham are in the worst position by a country mile. Any sort of quality would improve their squad at present. As such, the answer to the question is Spurs, but we’ll take a look at how the other four teams might also benefit from his arrival.

Arsenal have three quality left-backs on their books in Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Piero Hincapie. As such, moving to Arsenal would be a bit of a waste for the 26-year-old.

Manchester City don’t have the same level of depth as the Gunners, but they do have Nico O’Reilly in their team, who has the left-back position tightly locked down. Cambiaso won’t want to sit on the bench, but that is exactly what he will be doing if he makes the jump to the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will need a top-quality left-back in the summer. Stalwart Andy Robertson is leaving, while Milos Kerkez has largely underwhelmed – it would make a lot of sense for the Reds to proceed with their prospective purchase.

Likewise, Manchester United are short of both quality and options at left-back as things stand. Patrick Dorgu has transistioned into more of a winger, while Luke Shaw’s best days are now long gone. If we had to pick a sensible next destination for him, we’d choose Liverpool or United, but it remains to be seen where Cambiaso will end up.
