We aren’t far away from the end of the Premier League season. Competition is hotting up at both ends of the table, but who made it into our team of the week?

We saw some big wins for Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Liverpool – who were their best individual performers in gameweek 34?

GK: Matz Sels

Nottingham Forest annihilated Sunderland on Friday night – nevertheless, despite their dominance, Matz Sels still needed to be vigilant to maintain his clean sheet.

Making a number of excellent saves against the Black Cats, he ensured that Forest walked away from the Stadium of Light with a flawless victory.

RB: Pedro Porro

Pedro Porro isn’t known for hs defensive acumen, but he showed plenty of it in Tottenham’s do-or-die crunch clash against Wolves.

Spurs needed a win – Porro couldn’t provide the winning goal, but he was on hand to put in a number of excellent tackles amid a strong defensive display.

CB: Harry Maguire

While Harry Maguire didn’t keep a clean sheet against Brentford, he can’t be blamed for their late goal – furthermore, his aerial dominance provided a constant threat from set-pieces.

The Bees are known for taking advantage of set plays, but Maguire was able to beat them at their own game. He found Casemiro for United’s first goal, expertly heading the ball back across goal from a corner.

CB: Joachim Andersen

Aston Villa are no slouches, but the towering Joachim Andersen was able to limit their efforts on goal to an absolute premium.

Always on hand for a block, tackle or clearance, Andersen used his physical presence to great effect and shut the Villans out.

LB: Ryan Sessegnon

Once hailed as one of the best young players in the world, Ryan Sessegnon showed everyone the true extent of his abilities with an excellent display against Aston Villa.

Not only did Sessegnon score the only goal of the game, he also ended the outing with a 100% tackle ratio – this was a complete full-back performance from the Fulham man.

CM: Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister hasn’t been his usual self this season, but he was certainly back to his best when Liverpool swept Crystal Palace aside.

He notched up two assists against the Eagles, giving Liverpool a 3-1 win and bolstering their chances of finishing in the Champions League spots.

CM: Casemiro

One more year, one more year, Casemiro? United fans yearn for an extension to his Red Devils stint – after his display against Brentford, it’s easy to see why.

Scoring a well-timed header in the first half, the Brazilian put in some excellent tackles to break up the Bees’ play and prevented them from gaining a foothold in the game.

RW: Igor Jesus

This season has not been the Premier League debut campaign that Igor Jesus might have hoped for, but he made up for plenty of lost time against Sunderland.

Scoring a goal and notching up an assist within three minutes of each other, Sunderland could not contain Jesus as he breached their defence time and time again.

AM: Morgan Gibbs-White

Morgan Gibbs-White continues to stake his claim for a spot in the England squad. Surely Thomas Tuchel cannot continue to overlook him amid form such as this?

Like Jesus, he also scored a goal and registered an assist three minutes apart. It was a brilliant display from Forest – for now, their Premier League status looks intact.

LW: Jarrod Bowen

Forest aren’t the only ones gunning for survival – West Ham United also showed that they’re willing to fight for their lives, with Jarrod Bowen leading the charge.

He racked up both of West Ham’s assists against Everton, maintaining their lead over Tottenham in the league table.

ST: Callum Wilson

Had it not been for this man, West Ham’s survival charge may have been dead in the water. After Everton scored a late equaliser, the Hammers looked like they would have to settle for a point.

Not on Callum Wilson’s watch. Showing excellent poacher’s instinct, he scored a late winner to keep the Hammers alive.
