Premier League Team of the Week XI

Who else? Hull City’s heroics against Manchester United at the weekend will live forever in Tigers folklore. There were plenty of excellent performers to pick from, but Konstantinos Tzolakis was the star of the show, making five saves to keep a clean sheet.

RB: Michael Kayode

Brentford also sprung a major surprise at the weekend – people thought they might give Tottenham a game, but did anyone expect them to completely demolish the Lilywhites? Michael Kayode was electric throughout, keeping Mathys Tel quiet and scoring a goal early in the second half.

CB: Maxence Lacroix

What a debut for Maxence Lacroix. Yes, Chelsea might’ve let a pair of goals in, but he can’t be blamed for either of them. Fulham made plenty of forays forward, but he snuffed out everything that he possibly could – the French international also notched up an assist in a 3-2 away win.

CB: Jaka Bijol

Leeds United could be dark horses in the Premier League this season. Their game against Nottingham Forest was one for the purists, but much of this can be put down to their excellent defensive work. Jaka Bijol pulled the strings, making a whopping nine clearances.

LB: Keane Lewis-Potter

Brentford’s other full-back, Keane Lewis-Potter, is also worthy of a spot in the team. He also found the back of the net against Spurs, ending the game with a tackling ratio of 100%.

CM: Jack Hinshelwood

We’ve been admirers of Jack Hinshelwood for a couple of seasons now – he’s amongst the most underrated young players in the Premier League. He proved this as such against Aston Villa, using his excellent movement to find the back of the net twice in two minutes.

CM: Mamadou Sangare

Mamadou Sangare ran the game against Tottenham – the Lilywhites could not get near him. Covering practically every blade of grass and opening up Spurs on a number of occasions, he’s already looking like a brilliant signing for the Bees.

RW: Rayan Cherki

Rayan Cherki was Manchester City’s saving grace on Sunday afternoon. Trailing at home to Bournemouth, Cherki notched up a pair of assists to turn the tables and rescue the three points for Enzo Maresca’s men.

AM: Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer looks to be back to his best under Xabi Alonso. His work rate and creativity were both off the charts against Fulham, giving the Cottagers no end of problems – he scored and registered an assist to cap off a brilliant display.

LW: Christos Tzolis

Christos Tzolis looks like a fantastic addition to Arsenal’s ranks. While he only picked up a dubious assist against Coventry (take it up with FPL, not us), he was involved in almost all of their attacking moves and looked dynamic throughout.

ST: Joao Pedro

Joao Pedro scored (by far) the quickest goal of the season so far, finding the back of the net against Fulham after just 31 seconds. He would later pick up an assist – a brilliant start to the campaign for the Brazilian.
