This is a PSG predicted lineup for the Club World Cup final. The Champions League winners take on the Europa Conference League winners Chelsea in a clash of similar ideologies. Luis Enrique has the older 4-3-3 tiki-taka approach to tactics, while the Blues boss uses a more fluid 4-2-3-1 evolution to control matches. This will be reminiscent of their clash with Bayern Munich who have a similar setup, a match which the Parisiens won 2-0 despite having less of the ball.
Gianluigi Donnarumma has started the entire competition in goal. The first-choice defensive lineup is Nuno Mendes, Pacho, Marquinhos, and Achraf Hakimi. Rotation options used were Lucas Beraldo in the middle and Lucas Hernandez out left.
The primary midfield trio is Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Fabian Ruiz, the only defeat so far came when this unit was broken up as Warren Zaire-Emery and Senny Mayulu rotated in against Botafogo. Up front has been chopped and changed due to availability with Goncalo Ramos, Mayulu, and Bradley Barcola all playing there during the tournament.
Those players were used as the third man to replace Ousmane Dembele while he was sidelined, with Dembele now back the first-choice attacking three is back in action with the Frenchman joined by Desire Doue and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Enrique has set up for the tournament in his usual 4-3-3 which focuses on controlling the ball and grinding down the opposition. Fluid player movement is one of his big hallmarks, preferring to let players roam and the front three to rotate to cause problems for defenders. They can also play on the counter with the hard-working trio able to break on the counter or move around when in possession, making them very difficult to stop.
The Parisiens have let in one goal in this entire tournament. They have lost one match and it is the only one they’ve conceded a goal in. They have been largely dominant, smacking four past Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, and Inter Miami while comfortably beating Bayern Munich and Seattle Sounders. At the moment, they look like the favourites to win against Enzo Maresca’s young unit who are untested at the very highest level so far.
Hernandez and Pacho are both suspended with Nordi Mukiele’s injury making him the only other absentee. Everyone else is fit and ready to go.
