This is a PSG predicted lineup for their return to competitive action in the UEFA Super Cup Final. The Parisiens are coming off of a massive 3-0 defeat in the Club World Cup final against another side from London. While Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea made the UCL winners look ordinary, they’ll no doubt be out for blood against the Europa League winners and their new coach.
In the CWC there was a clear strongest eleven. Gianluigi Donnarumma was in goal with a preferred back line of Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, and Nuno Mendes. The midfield trio of Joao Neves, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz were trusted to boss most games together. Up front, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and Ousmane Dembele were the strongest attacking grouping.
Injuries and rotations did cause some changes with Goncalo Ramos initially playing up front before losing out to Senny Mayulu. Warren Zaire-Emery was the midfield rotational option while Lucas Beraldo and Lucas Hernandez were deputies in defence.
Enrique has used his fluid 4-3-3 system to great effect. It is a machine that aims to control and recycle the ball while using player movement out of possession to overwhelm the opposition. The team plays high with full-backs given license to roam forward, while the attacking trio will switch positions consistently to make them difficult to defend.
This worked like a charm for most of the last campaign as the team romped to a treble by winning the Champions League, French Cup, and Ligue 1. Despite that some cracks emerged as they lost 1-0 to Botafogo in the group stages before falling to the Blues in the final of the Club World Cup in weak fashion.
Per the announced travelling squad, the Parisiens will be without starters Donnarumma and Neves for this one. They will also be missing rotational option Mayulu, who can cover attacking areas and the midfield. Nordi Mukiele also remains sidelined having missed the previous tournament as well.
