On Friday, ahead of the Champions League final, Dembélé and sidestepped the question regarding whether the departure of Mbappé has allowed him into the player that he’s now this season.

“No, maybe with Mbappé we would be even stronger this season,” Dembélé said (h/t Paris Fans ). “We don’t know what would have happened. Mbappé had a dream in his career—to play for Real Madrid—and Paris Saint-Germain kept moving forward. There was a before and after Kylian. We wish him good luck and we’re mainly focused on ourselves and the season we wanted to have.”

Sky Sports: ‘Verbal agreement reached’ in Benjamin Sesko transfer saga after Man Utd make first bid

Manchester United and Newcastle United have now both submitted offers for Benjamin Sesko and are neck and neck in pursuit of the RB Leipzig starlet. The Old Trafford faithful – and fans on Tyneside – are anxiously watching on as the two clubs go head-to-head for Sesko, with Leipzig now resigned to losing their highly-rated frontman. United’s £73.8 million proposal was submitted this morning, whilst Newcastle’s improved offer is said to be in the region of £78.2m all-in. With Leipzig keen to recuperate as high a fee as possible, they will presumably be favouring the latter’s submission, although reports have suggested the player himself is angling for a Red Devils switch. Benjamin Sesko saga: What’s going on behind the scenes? Yet, there remains plenty of work to do between all parties involved, as Sky Sports’ Philipp Hinze claims the Slovenian has ‘reached a verbal agreement with both United and Newcastle’. Ben Jacobs also believes this to be the case, yet he – and expert David Ornstein – state that United are of the opinion that Sesko wants to join them over the Magpies. As such, Leipzig may be cornered into accepting the lower offer on the table in order to comply with the forward’s wishes. Sesko in, Rasmus Hojlund out? In the event INEOS did indeed get a deal over the line for the 22-year-old in the coming days, it’s almost certain to have knock-on effects for Rasmus Hojlund, whose future will then be up in the air. His lacklustre return of just four Premier League goals in 32 appearances last season has prompted the board to consider cutting ties with him prematurely – even though he has publicly expressed his desire to stay at the club on numerous occasions. A loan may be the most suitable option for him to revive his stagnant form because if he were to leave this transfer window, United would be getting nowhere near the £64m they forked out for him two years ago.

Kolby Aipa, Surf Royalty, Tragically Dies in E-Bike Accident

On Saturday night, surf royalty heir Kolby Aipa was involved in a tragic accident in Huntington Beach, CA. The 20-year-old grandson of iconic and innovative Hawaiian surfboard shaper, Ben Aipa, was put on life support; on Tuesday, he passed away. According to reports, Aipa was towing behind a car of friends on his e-bike when the accident happened. He was struck by the same vehicle that was towing him. Since the news of his untimely passing, an outpouring of mourning from the surf community – from Hawaii to Huntington Beach – has been flooding in. “This is the hardest post we will ever make,” began the tribute from the official Aipa Surf Company account. “We are completely heartbroken. We wanted to thank all the visitors, supporters, food deliveries, donations, flowers, cards, countless stories and photos his friends have shared with us, Drs and nurses that have taken care of our sweet boy. The HB community and everyone around the world have touched our hearts in an unimaginable way. Thank you for loving our boy.” Following in his strong surfing lineage, Kolby was an up-and-coming surfer himself. He was sponsored by the clothing brand AVVA, Dakine, Cobian footwear, and others. He was a member of the Huntington Beach Board Riders club. The Aipa Surf Co. post announcing his passing continued, speaking to Kolby as a human: “Kolby always had a way with touching the lives of whoever he met. His acts of kindness and caring was his gift of Aloha to friends and strangers alike. To everyone that reads this... pass his Aloha on. So, how Kolby treated you, treat others in that same way...In this you are continuing his legacy of Aloha. And you too can be like Kolby.” A memorial paddle-out for Kolby is being planned; stay tuned for more information. Rest in peace, Kolby Aipa. To donate to the GoFundMe, see here.

Micah Parsons situation gets uglier with Jerry Jones' comments on star's status

The ongoing contract dispute between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys has reached a boiling point, and team owner Jerry Jones does not seem confident that it will be resolved before the start of the regular season. Jones was asked at training camp on Tuesday if he is confident that Parsons will be on the field when the Cowboys travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles for their season opener on Sept. 4. As he often does, the 82-year-old gave a blunt response. "No, absolutely not. A big part of that is his decision," Jones said. "How would I know that? I’m just saying. But I’m urgent.” Parsons is still under contract with the Cowboys, as he is earning just over $24M in the final year of his rookie deal this season. He has very little leverage from a contractual standpoint, but he could go the nuclear route by giving up a game check and sitting out Week 1. He could also do more to force a trade between now and the start of the season. Parsons publicly requested a trade on Friday following what has turned into an ugly back-and-forth between him and the Jones family. It is highly unlikely that the Cowboys will trade Parsons, and many prominent members of the media have predicted a deal will still get done. For now, both sides seem as dug in as possible. Jones' refusal to make any predictions about Parsons playing in Week 1 is another reminder of that.

Jalen Milroe Surges Past Former NFL Starter on First Seattle Seahawks Depth Chart

Despite being viewed as a potential first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, former Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe ended up sliding into the third round. The 22-year-old who was the starter for Alabama for two seasons was selected with the No. 92 pick by the Seattle Seahawks. Although every player's dream is to go in the first round, Milroe likely couldn't have gone to a better situation. There is virtually no pressure on him as the Seahawks signed former Minnesota Vikings quarterback, Sam Darnold, to a three-year, $100.5 million contract this offseason, and also have Drew Lock, who has started 28 career games on the roster as well. However, based on ESPN's initial depth chart, Milroe may be climbing the depth chart sooner than most expected. Seattle Seahawks Depth Chart As reported by ESPN, the Seahawks depth chart goes as follows: QB1: Sam Darnold QB2 Jalen Milroe QB3 Drew Lock If this truly ends up being the case, Milroe has taken major strides following his final season at Alabama. During his final year in Tuscaloosa, Milroe was criticized heavily for forcing passes into windows that weren't there after being late on reads. In his final season at Alabama, Milroe threw a career-high 11 interceptions to just 16 touchdowns, an increase of five more interceptions than he threw in 2023. Although training camp is still ongoing and the preseason games have yet to be played, clearly, Milroe is finding some success in the pacific northwest.
