Sky Sport pundit Paolo Condo has claimed Inter Milan need a “shake-up” after their Derby d’Italia defeat to Juventus and revealed it was the choice of Simone Inzaghi to leave in the summer.
Inter Milan were left stunned last night as two goals from Juventus in the last ten minutes gave the Bianconeri all three points.
Inter fought back from behind to lead heading into the 80th minute.
However, goals from Khephren Thuram and Vasilije Adzic gave Igor Tudor’s side the win.
Speaking on Sky, with quotes via FcInterNews, Condo said “Chivu’s words seemed like an attempt to curry favour with the group.”
This is in reference to the head coach’s post-match comments.
Condo argued that Inter “need a shake-up” after “age-related issues” began to crop up last season.
He added that “there is no need for a complete overhaul but a refresh is necessary.”
Condo also discussed Simone Inzaghi’s summer exit.
The head coach departed the Nerazzurri in favour of a new challenge at Saudi side Al-Hilal.
“The separation from Simone Inzaghi was his choice,” Condo said.
“He decided to leave so as to not remain trapped in that sort of gratitude towards a group that had brought him to the top.
“But one which would have needed new energy to continue growing.”
Chivu arrived to replace Inzaghi with not much experience.
He still has a lot of work to do to win over fans and critics alike.
