Rabiot: 24 hours of tension with AC Milan, Napoli and Marseille

Adrien Rabiot and Milan, here is when it all started, what happened over the last 24 hours including a final attempt to make up with Olympique Marseille, and fresh proposal to Napoli.

The midfielder is now on the verge of coming to San Siro, with an agreement that should be considerably lower than the initial demand of €11-12m plus add-ons, considering his situation and the fact his contract expires at the end of the season anyway.

Why AC Milan can get Rabiot on deadline day

It all started on August 22 when we revealed that Milan had made an approach to ask for detailed information on how much it would cost to reunite the midfielder with his former Juventus boss Max Allegri.

It was always tied to the departure of Yunus Musah, and now that is happening with the USMNT player heading to Atalanta on transfer deadline day.

There have been significant developments behind the scenes over the last 24 hours, however.

In that time, Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique contacted Napoli and tried once again to propose him to Antonio Conte’s side, without success.

They also made one final attempt to mend the broken relationship with Olympique Marseille, but the club was not prepared to turn back after that locker room brawl.

Now the path taking him to Milan is all clear.
