Racial inequality allegations launched towards Gary Neville’s organisation

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has had a remarkable year, being inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in recognition of his stellar career at Old Trafford.

Beyond football, he has pursued various ventures in business and education, including co-founding University Academy 92 with his fellow Class of ’92 teammates Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Phil Neville, and Nicky Butt.

UA92 aims to provide young people with business, sport, and media qualifications while instilling the mindset of elite athletes.

Neville has long championed inclusivity and fair opportunities, often stressing the importance of supportive environments for growth and learning.

However, the university has recently been at the centre of controversy.

Allegations of racial inequality surfaced after a staff member claimed non-white employees faced barriers to career progression, as reported by The Sun.

An independent review was immediately launched, and the report concluded that the university lacked a sufficiently “inclusive culture” for workers.

In response, Neville called a staff meeting where he emotionally acknowledged that changes were needed.

The Sky pundit, 50, co-founded the university in 2019 and has since worked to implement the recommendations, including creating an internal racial equity staff network and establishing an equality and diversity taskforce.

A source told The Sun: “The allegations about racial inequality rocked the uni.

“Gary was horrified anyone thought such inequality existed.

“To his credit, he immediately stepped up and assured staff changes in the report would all go through.”

“Gary led a talk and reiterated his and the board’s commitment to inclusivity and equity.”
