Rafael Leao hands major boost to Manchester United

Rafael Leao has been in fine form for AC Milan this season, despite missing the start of the season through injury.

Having missed the club’s first four Serie A games through a calf injury, Leao soon made up for his departure, grabbing ten goals and three assists in 31 games.

As such, it continued his impressively consistent goal tally, taking him to 80 goals and 65 assists in 291 games since joining from LOSC Lille in 2019.

This season, his impressive performances have draw the attention of Manchester United who are looking to sign a new left-winger this season.

The intention is to have another option to help rotate with Matheus Cunha given the increased schedule this season, now The Red Devils are back in the Champions League.

Now, United have been given hope of luring Rafael Leao to Old Trafford thanks to a recent interview with the man himself.

Speaking to Cernuccipodcast on TikTok, Leao was asked if he watches much Premier League football, to which he responded: “No, I like [Manchester] United. I like United because my idol is Cristiano Ronaldo, so back then I used to watch them.”

However, the cameraman seemingly caught the eye of Leao who questioned his reaction to the news, but after revealing he was a United fan, the AC Milan winger commented, “Put a smile then bro” while laughing with the host.

Hopefully for United, this means that they wouldn’t need to put up as strong a fight for the 26-year-old if they want to sign him.

Leao is set to be at the upcoming 2026 World Cup alongside his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as United duo Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes.

As such, with links in the camp, United have multiple factors in their favour to bring the winger to Old Trafford this summer.
