Rafael Leao has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer as the club analyses its options.

The club, who will compete in the Champions League following a third place finish in the Premier League last season, could look towards the winger as an option to strengthen the quality and depth available in the position.

Leao scored nine goals and provided three assists for AC Milan last season in Serie A as the Italian club finished fifth in the league, securing Europa League football.

The Portuguese international, who plays alongside Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, has not just been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, however.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are also said to be targeting Leao this summer as both sides look to prepare for their respective campaigns.

Now, Rafael Leao has handed each of these clubs (including Manchester United) a transfer boost with him confirming that his time has come to an end.

Speaking to Sport TV, the 26-year-old stated: “Personally, I’ve given everything at Milan. The club helped me grow & supported me through tough times. I made my name in history.

“Everyone has dreams & new challenges. I want a new challenge in a new league – if it happens I’ll be happy & fulfilled as I did my job.”

Sport TV then asked Leao about the links that have emerged. Responding to these, the winger explained: “Priority now is World Cup: perform & help national team. Then I’ll study best options to boost career & compete at top European level.”

With Rafael Leao now confirming that he is looking for a new challenge, Manchester United could look to move in the coming weeks.

The Red Devils are likely to face competition in their pursuit but, if the club can get negotiations right, Leao could become a United player for next season.
