Liverpool aims to get its season back on track Tuesday in Scotland against Rangers in Group A of the UEFA Champions League.
The Reds, who have started the season poorly, suffered another setback on Sunday as Arsenal beat Jürgen Klopp’s team, 3-2, at the Emirates Stadium on goals by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Tuesday's match against Rangers is a must win for Liverpool as it attempts to qualify for the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds for the sixth consecutive season.
For Rangers, this game is also a must win. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side has lost all three of its Champions League games this season, failing to score a goal. Although qualifying for the knockout rounds is unlikely for The Gers, a third-place finish is still possible, which would mean the club will drop down into the UEFA Europa League round of 32.
Liverpool will be without star Luis Díaz for up to 10 weeks after the Colombian suffered a knee injury against Arsenal over the weekend. Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joël Matip are also unlikely to make the trip to Glasgow because of injuries. Ibrahima Konaté is likely to get his first start of the season for the Reds after a long injury layoff, with Englishman Joe Gomez set to replace Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
