Rapid Vienna have acknowledged that Celtic target Isak Jansson is set to depart the club, confirming his absence from pre-season training amid interest from the Hoops…

Both Rapid’s manager and sporting director seem to have come to terms with the fact that the winger is on the verge of leaving the Austrian side.

Celtic are reportedly competing with ambitious Ligue 1 newcomers Paris FC to sign the Swedish winger, who is being lined up to replace Nicolas Kuhn as he closes in on a £17 million move to Serie A side Como.

The 23 year-old was brought in by Rapid to fill the void left by Kuhn following his £3 million move to Celtic in January 2024. Austrian reports claim Rapid are demanding £10 million for Jansson, even though they signed him for only £200,000 from Spanish second-tier club Cartagena last summer.

The winger was withdrawn from Rapid’s pre-season training camp as a precaution, and when questioned about a possible return later in the week, he responded via The National: “Let’s wait and see.”

Rapid’s sporting director Markus Katzer disclosed that the club has already rejected an offer for Jansson. He said: “I can confirm we rejected an offer that would exceed Rapid’s transfer record.”

Rapid manager Peter Stöger is already making plans to bring in a successor for the Swedish wideman. Stöger said: “Not all transfer plans become reality. But even if they do, sometimes, someone even better comes along.

Meanwhile, Cremonese have reportedly taken the lead in the pursuit of Celtic target Giuseppe Ambrosino , with reports indicating that a formal offer has been submitted. Celtic have shown interest in the Napoli forward and were keen to secure him on a season-long loan deal.

However, Italian outlets suggested the Hoops face competition, and the player was inclined to remain in Italy, although Anthony Joseph, through his own colleagues at Sky Sports Italy has stated that the player is interested in a move to Celtic.

Ambrosino netted five times during his loan spell at Frosinone last season, and Napoli are open to loaning him out ahead of the coming season, this time including a potential option to buy clause.
