Rasmus Hojlund has completed a loan move to Napoli for the 2025/26 season, Manchester United have announced.

Following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko in a £66 million deal, Ruben Amorim made it clear that Hojlund was no longer part of his plans.

It is a significant financial hit for United, who paid £64 million for Hojlund in 2023. The loan deal includes a conditional buy clause set at £38 million if Napoli qualify for the Champions League.

Unlike some of his teammates who left under tense circumstances this summer, the Dane departed on good terms. His new wages in Italy suggest he’s more focused on rebuilding his career than chasing a bigger payday.

How much will Rasmus Hojlund earn at Napoli?

Jadon Sancho’s high wages made it tough for Manchester United to move him, but Rasmus Hojlund has taken a slight pay cut to make his switch to Italy.

Per reports from Italy’s Gazzetta, Hojlund is set to earn €5 million annually at Napoli should his permanent signing materialize. The agreement is slated to run until 2031.

That comes out to around £4.32 million annually, or just over £83,000 a week.

For comparison, the Dane was making £85,000 a week at United and now has a long-term contract that takes him through until he is 28.

Looking at United’s current wage structure, Hojlund’s new salary is less than what 19-year-old Leny Yoro (£115,000 per week), Andre Onana (£120,000 per week), and Joshua Zirkzee (£105,000 per week) are earning.

Rasmus Hojlund hoping to replicate Scott McTominay’s Napoli success

Manchester United fans felt the club did well to secure £25 million for Scott McTominay when he left for Napoli.

Looking back, though, United may regret the deal. McTominay has since become a Ballon d’Or nominee and was named Serie A MVP in his first season.

His game has reached new heights under Antonio Conte in Naples, and Hojlund will be hoping he can find similar success in Italy.

Playing with McTominay and Kevin De Bruyne behind him, Hojlund should have plenty of opportunities inside the box.
