An in-form Real Madrid side travels today to face Real Betis in its fourth fixture of the La Liga campaign.

Los Blancos have found renewed drive following the arrival of Jose Mourinho and multiple new signings after going trophyless for two consecutive seasons.

Mourinho’s squad opened its campaign with a win over Espanyol before beating Real Sociedad at the Bernabéu. Madrid followed that up with a convincing 4-0 victory over Málaga, with goals from Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Arda Güler.

Madrid currently sits in second place behind defending champion Barcelona after three matches, with the two sides separated only by goal difference.

Real Betis, meanwhile, sits seventh in the standings and is coming off a 5-2 loss to Levante.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side opened the season with two clean sheets, securing 1-0 victories over Real Sociedad and Valencia.

Despite their recent setback, Los Verdiblancos will have home advantage today, with Real Madrid having failed to win at the stadium in their last four visits dating back to 2021.

Real Betis vs. Real Madrid Expected Lineups

Mourinho is expected to rotate his squad and could hand a potential first start to Yan Diomande while Eder Militão, Raúl Asencio, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo remain unavailable for selection.

Pellegrini is also without Ángel Ortiz and Aitor Ruibal due to injuries, while Giovani Lo Celso is another doubt for the fixture.

Fran García and Isco are expected to feature tonight against their former club.

Ahead of the fixture, Mourinho said he is aiming for another positive result despite Real Madrid’s poor recent record at the venue.

“It has to be a great one. If it isn’t, we won’t win. Betis are a very good team, and Real Madrid’s recent results there… It’s difficult to win there. To do it, you have to be at your very best. There’s no other way.”
