Spanish giants Real Madrid currently sit atop the La Liga table but fell to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tilt and, thus, are facing potential elimination from Europe's top club cup tournament.
It appears those two teams could be linked in a different way if Real manager Carlo Ancelotti leaves the club following the season.
According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, Real could pursue current Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino as soon as this summer. Pochettino has repeatedly been mentioned as a target of Premier League club Manchester United, who have Ralf Rangnick serving as interim coach through the remainder of the campaign.
It's widely believed Pochettino will leave the Parc des Princes unless PSG win the Champions League, and there were previous reports that PSG could make a change if they are bounced from that competition next month.
PSG star forward Kylian Mbappe is out of contract after the season and has long been a Real target. Mokbel explained that Mbappe and Pochettino "have built a close relationship" and that the pair could be a package deal to move to Madrid this summer. La Liga president Javier Tebas said last week that "Madrid will get Mbappe" later this year on a free transfer.
It was Mbappe who netted the winner for PSG versus Real last Tuesday. Those two teams will meet again on March 9.
