Red Bull New York will be without a familiar face next season. The club announced on Wednesday that it declined the option to bring back right-back Kyle Duncan.
New York is expected to undergo significant alterations to its roster with Head of Sport Julian de Guzman stating recently that he wants to add "more flavor, more style, more creativity, especially on attack.”
The club announced several end-of-year roster decisions. It is already known that goalkeeper Carlos Coronel will leave the club as a free agent.
Duncan’s departure is also significant. The 28-year-old made 166 total appearances across all competitions for Red Bull New York. The Brooklyn native began his career in the New York Red Bull youth academy before embarking on spells in France and Belgium.
New York also declined the option of 20-year-old left-back Curtis Ofori.
“We want to thank the players who will not be returning next season for their hard work and commitment to our club, and we wish them the best of luck in their next endeavors,” Head of Sport Julian de Guzman said. “We know there’s room for improvement, and we’ll continue evaluating the roster to ensure we’re in the best position possible.”
Red Bull New York announced that it has exercised options to keep 28-year-old defender Sean Nealis and 23-year-old midfielder Peter Stroud at the club.
It also appears that veteran defender Tim Parker and goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci will likely return as they are currently in negotiations regarding new deals.
Marcucci suffered a season-ending left ACL injury in August.
Red Bull New York is still looking for a head coach after the club parted ways with Sandro Schwarz after he missed the 2025 MLS Cup playoffs.
