Nehuen Benedetti impressed after initially arriving at Red Bull New York on loan from Argentine side Estudiantes de La Plata in February 2025.

His lung-busting performances for the Red Bulls II earned him a permanent transfer to the Red Bull New York senior team. On Tuesday, the Red Bulls completed the transfer of Benedetti from Estudiantes for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Benedetti signed a four-year contract with New York that runs through the 2029 season. The 20-year-old midfielder will occupy an international roster spot, and the contract includes an option to be extended to 2030.

Recently installed Red Bulls head coach Michael Bradley worked closely with Benedetti as the pair helped Red Bulls II to the club’s first MLS NEXT Pro Cup title.

“Nehuen is the type of player who wants to get better every single day,” Bradley said. “His work rate is excellent, and we are looking forward to giving him this opportunity with our first team.”

Benedetti made 23 appearances for Red Bulls II, registering 11 goals and seven assists. His contributions for the reserve team caught plenty of attention, and he was named to the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Best XI. He became only the second player in team history to earn MLS NEXT Pro Best XI honors.

The 5-foot-9 midfielder recorded four goal contributions during the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro playoffs. Red Bull New York head of sport Julian de Guzman sees a bright future for Benedetti now that he’s ready to make a full-time leap to the first team.

“Nehuen has shown a great development over the last year with Red Bull New York II and delivered with a big season in 2025,” de Guzman said. “He has earned this opportunity with our first team, and we are looking forward to seeing what he can accomplish next season.”

Benedetti made his debut for the Red Bulls senior team against Mexican club C.F. Monterrey on August 3, 2025 in the Leagues Cup. He entered the match as a 67th-minute substitute, replacing Dennis Gjengaar. Monterrey won the penalty shootout 5-3 after the game ended 1-1 in regulation.

The Bosques, Argentina native debuted for the Argentina Under-20 team on July 25, 2024, in a 1-1 draw against Mauretanien U-20’s.

Under the leadership team of de Guzman and Bradley, the Red Bulls have shifted to a youth-based rebuild. The club will be hoping that Benedetti continues his impressive progress and makes his mark in the first team.
