Tottenham are aiming to land Liverpool star Harvey Elliott in the coming days before the start of the new PL season

Tottenham need to up their ante in the coming days if they want to land a prolific attacking midfielder for the upcoming season. The Lilywhites are lacking a creative player in the midfield after James Maddison ruptured his ACL earlier this month. The England international is all set to miss most parts of the new season as a result of that.

However, this is the perfect opportunity for Daniel Levy to put the money where his mouth is and back Thomas Frank in the transfer window. Bringing in a new #10 is crucial as the Danish tactician relies heavily on his attacking midfielders to create chances for the frontline. Not only that, but the ex-Brentford boss also relies heavily on the midfielders for build-up play.

With the absence of James Maddison in the squad, Spurs really lack a natural #10 for the upcoming season. There is a case to be made here that Mohammed Kudus can operate there in case of an emergency, but the Lilywhites cannot take that risk heading into the season. The Ghana international is better off on the right-flank, and that is where he can shine the most.

Tottenham are edging closer for a deal to sign Liverpool star Harvey Elliott

Tottenham have already lost two key players in the space of a week and this has put Thomas Frank in a tough spot. The fans saw Heung-Min Son move onto pastures new for the upcoming season after a successful ten-year stint at the club. Not only that, but the Lilywhites are also forced to be without James Maddison for most parts of the campaign.

It was reported earlier that Spurs are eyeing a possible deal to land Liverpool star Harvey Elliott. The England U-21 international has lost his way at Anfield under Arne Slot, and he is keen to make a move in the coming days. The aforementioned report also stated that Thomas Frank held direct talks with the 22-year-old, urging him to join the Lilywhites for the upcoming season and beyond.

Now, there is a new update regarding the transfer involving the ex-Fulham star. As per Sebastien Vidal (via X), Tottenham are ready to meet Liverpool’s asking price of £40m as they look to strengthen the #10 position. The North London club is offering Elliott regular game time under Thomas Frank, tempting the versatile attacker to make the move to N17.

If things go as planned, Spurs will have a new attacking midfielder before the start of the new Premier League season. Signing a player of Harvey Elliott’s calibre is a no-brainer. The Liverpool attacker is still just 22-years-old, and he clearly has a ton of experience playing in the big competitions. Not only that, but he will also thrive under Thomas Frank as the Spurs manager prefers his #10’s to roam freely in and around the opposition box.
