Tottenham want to sign Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur need to act fast in the transfer market if they want to close the gap on their rivals next season. It has only been two weeks since the season got over and the Lilywhites are already playing catch-up in the summer. While other teams are strengthening their squad for next season, the North London club is still deciding on the managerial situation and missing out on intended targets.

There is a clear need for Spurs to bring in reinforcements in the summer after the club endured a disastrous domestic campaign. Ange Postecoglou’s men managed to save their blushes in the end by winning the Europa League last month, but that was not enough for Big Ange to save himself from the sack at N17.

A lot of things went wrong for the Australian tactician during his second season at the club. Numerous injuries to key players and lack of consistent performances from the squad players meant that the North London club finished the Premier League season just a place above the relegation zone. This has forced Daniel Levy to adopt the ‘sell-to-buy’ policy in the summer if the club wants to bring in new signings.

Tottenham might miss out signing Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo

Tottenham are looking to address the problems in the final third of the pitch and want to bolster their squad by bringing in attacking players. With Heung-Min Son facing an uncertain future at N17 and Mathys Tel not yet signed permanently from Bayern Munich, Daniel Levy thought of bringing in a replacement that could elevate the quality of the attack for the foreseeable future.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo for next season. However, the Lilywhites are all set for a setback as there is a new update in the transfer saga. As per TBR Football correspondent Graeme Bailey,

“On Semenyo, there is an element of truth to Tottenham’s interest to a certain extent. They do like him. They always have. So, there is an interest there. But Bournemouth value him above £60m, the precedent has been set in the market for those wide players to go for a lot. I understand as of today, Bournemouth, they’re not expecting Semenyo to go. There is genuine interest from Spurs, but at the current price tag, they’re not about to give them the same fee as Dominic Solanke and the same money.”

Graeme Bailey has suggested that Tottenham are interested in signing Antoine Semenyo in the summer. But the reliable journalist has added that the Cherries value the attacker at £60m and will not accept a penny less for the Ghana international. Bailey has also added that Spurs want to bring the 25-year-old to N17, but are not willing to pay the asking price for Semenyo’s services.

Signing Antoine Semenyo will surely elevate quality of the attack at Spurs for next season. The Ghana international has endured a stellar campaign under Andoni Iraola at the Vitality Stadium. As per Sofascore, the 25-year-old scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 42 games this season. He was one of the first names on the team-sheet for the Cherries as they competed for European spots.
