Rennes seeking €30m plus for 17 goal striker amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham have been made aware of the actual valuation of Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo

Tottenham Hotspur are starting to accelerate their summer transfer plans.

Indeed, they are looking to get their house in order after having a new head coach in place in the form of Thomas Frank, whilst announcing the permanent captures of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel. The North London club’s transfer business isn’t done there either as they have plenty of work to do in the transfer window following a disastrous domestic 2024/25 season.

Tottenham have been linked with several attackers in recent weeks and months. Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has been a target, while Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth is linked too. One player who has recently emerged as a target for the Lilywhites is Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Frank’s club are set to ramp up their interest in Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is also on the radar of Newcastle United and Bayer Leverkusen. The Frenchman enjoyed an impressive last season, netting 17 goals in 33 league outings for Rennes. The 23-year-old’s goalscoring exploits have brought him into Tottenham and a few other club’s attention.

Now, Spurs have been made aware of Kalimuendo’s price tag. According to a report from French outlet Ouest-France, Rennes are demanding above €30m to sanction their prized asset’s sale this summer as they look to trim their squad and wage bill ahead of new season. The striker held talks with Tottenham officials last week, but no direct club-to-club conversations have taken place thus far.

At 23, Kalimuendo aligns perfectly with the North London outfit’s transfer policy of signing young, exciting players with high ceiling. Having shown he can find the back of the net pretty consistently for Rennes, the former France youth international appears ready to take make the step up to a more competitive league.

He certainly possesses the attributes to thrive in the Premier League, and Spurs could hugely benefit from his presence in the front line. The ex-Paris Saint-Germain trainee would improve Tottenham’s potency in attack whilst being a solid potential replacement for Richarlison, whose long-term future at N17 remains uncertain.

Due to his pace and energy to burn, Kalimuendo would be a quality option to bring off the bench against tiring defences. If Spurs can agree a fee in the region of €30-35m for Kalimuendo, it’d represent a smart, long-term acquisition.
