Rayan Cherki could potentially become one of the most popular names in the transfer market this summer. It is believed that the player prioritises a transfer to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. Cherki’s goals and assists (8/10) have been a key element in Lyon’s 2024/25 season.

Many big clubs have been linked with the 21-year-old striker, especially Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as PSG, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Chelsea and even Bayern Munich.

Player’s agent has been in action

Cherki’s agent has made contact with top English clubs for a possible summer deal, and that The Boy Hotspur understands, includes Spurs. It does feel as though Tottenham are in desperate need of creativity from midfield moving into the new campaign, especially in light of the number of injuries picked up. No better example than the impending Europa League final, which will see several creative players absent…

Cherki had expressed positive feelings about the possibility of joining PSG and that he had established good relations with names such as Ousmane and Bradley. Although an agreement was almost reached with Borussia Dortmund last winter due to Lyon’s financial difficulties, this transfer did not take place due to strained relations between the club owner John Textor and Dortmund.

Rivals looming for Lyon star’s signature

While there is talk that Liverpool supports the transfer, Manchester United has witnessed important performances in matches, and Chelsea’s rivals can exploit the low offer.

Tottenham Hotspur is also in search of a new central defender in its team, and should Cuti Romero really want to move, the situation would be intensified.

Our View

This situation around Cuti may hold many indicators as to how close to happening this one might get.

Another factor is how much money Spurs have to spend after the Europa League final, as this lesser competition doesn’t generate anywhere near the Champions League revenues. Minus the winner’s prize money, Tottenham will be forced to spend very wisely, and it might not shock anyone if more juggling with the squad is witnessed instead.
