Maurizio Fanchini is on the cusp of returning to Inter Milan ten years after leaving the club to complete a brand-new technical staff.
Per FCInterNews, the 54-year-old will join Cristian Chivu’s coaching team as the new athletic trainer.
Fanchini worked as an athletic coach at San Siro between 2011 and 2015.
During that time, he operated as part of Walter Mazzarri and Roberto Mancini’s backroom staff.
However, he severed ties with the Nerazzurri a decade ago.
Three years after departing Inter, Fanchini took the job at Sassuolo, where he stayed for three seasons.
Then, he moved to Roma in 2021, only to leave the Stadio Olimpico last summer.
Fanchini’s return should add experience to Inter’s revamped backroom staff ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Moreover, he’s not the only familiar face returning to Appiano Gentile, as Inter continue to build a new coaching unit.
In addition to new head coach Cristian Chivu, the Nerazzurri have welcomed Aleksandar Kolarov back.
Indeed, the former left-back will serve as Chivu’s assistant manager.
