Celtic have reportedly set their asking price for Honduran winger Luis Palma. The attacker was loaned out to Olympiacos but the Greek side opted against taking up the permanent option on the wide player.

As reported by Celts Are Here, Palma’s price has been set by the club as £3m.

There is expected to be interest in the player and the price tag reflects Celtic’s willingness to sell the attacker. Palma has not reported back for pre-season yet given his international workload this summer but it’s clear that Brendan does not see him in his plans standing a major u-turn by the manager.

The Scottish Champions are in the market for attackers after Nicolas Kühn left for Como in a €19m deal and even before this departure, the manager stated that he wanted to strengthen.

The report does, however, suggest that Celtic are monitoring a number of targets including Michel-Ange Balikwisha and winger Sondre Orjasaeter. Although bizarrely, the article appears to state that Celtic are considering a move for Benji Nygren, who has already signed for the club. Crucially, Nygren started as a central midfielder this afternoon and looks to be vying for a role in the midfield three rather than as a wide player.

In any case, Celtic need to get quality options into the team and the manager requires to be backed. Jota will be out until 2026 and relying on James Forrest, Yang and Marco Tilio does not represent Champions League quality, notwithstanding they can play their part.

It remains to be seen whether a club will come in for Palma or whether a loan to buy deal has to be done to get the player back playing regularly.
