Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Wycombe Wanderers’ Richard Kone. The Ivorian attacker impressed with the EFL League One side and is attracting interest from a number of teams.

As reported by TEAMTalk, Celtic are interested in the attacker with Wycombe valuing the player at £7m.

Kone rose from homelessness in Ivory Coast, starred for Athletic Newham in England’s ninth tier, then signed for Wycombe Wanderers in January 2024. The striker was named League One Player and Young Player of the Season in April 2025.

The article claims that Kone would be a potential replacement for Daizen Maeda; however, Celtic appear to be hunting a number of attackers at present without losing key players.

This figure seems far fetched and transfermarkt value the player at just £600k. Kone has had an impressed season scoring 21 goals but overall, that seasons aside, his numbers haven’t merited a high transfer fee like that.

Celtic have signed Callum Osmand from Fulham and are due to sign Shin Yamada as Brendan looks to strengthen in the attacking third. It appears unlikely that Celtic would progress interest in the Ivory Coast U23 International given the price tag but he certainly does fit a certain profile as strong, fast and clinical.
