Report: ‘Club president’ personally phoned striker to offer summer transfer

With all the best will in the world, Richarlison has not been a success at Spurs. Despite all the excuses and sympathies, this has been yet another spreadsheet punt from Daniel Levy that simply has failed to deliver. Far too many Tottenham fans bought into the affection that Everton fans gave the Brazilian international, and even his place in the pecking order with his national team was visibly undermined during his time in N17.

In his time with us, which has now lasted three long seasons, only 16 Premier League goals were scored, and to be blunt, if he were producing that per season for a player of his alleged calibre, that would still be just so-so. There has been talk of a possible move to the Middle East, but nothing approaching a concrete move ever appeared.

It has now transpired that Pedro Paulo de Oliveira, the president of Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama in Brazil, has telephoned Richalison directly to see what his situation is. Bola VIP say that the club are willing to pick the hitman up and bring him home.

For me, this is player is surely finished at this level. The move to Tottenham was a curious one, perhaps sweetened by the magic of Daniel Levy’s payment plan. It was supposed to be a step-up for a striker that has never been prolific for any of his club sides.

The sooner Spurs can rinse this experience and go again with the money, the better.

Thank you, Pedro Paulo de Oliveira!
