Benjamin Pavard has not been at his scintillating best since recovering from a niggling thigh problem earlier in 2025.

However, his experience in high-stakes contests makes him a perfect candidate to take De Vrij’s place in Bergamo.

Therefore, Bisseck will stay on the bench.

De Vrij has failed to recover from a minor knee problem.

Therefore, Simone Inzaghi had a decision to make.

However, Pavard will take his place next to Alessandro Bastoni and Francesco Acerbi this evening.

Furthermore, De Vrij will skip the Netherlands’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Indeed, Ronald Koeman has omitted him from his Dutch squad for March’s international break.
