La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Evan Ferguson has snubbed a move to Celtic to join Roma, so the Giallorossi are pushing to finalise a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Brighton striker Ferguson has snubbed a move to Celtic because he wants to join Roma this summer.

Ferguson snubs Celtic for Roma

Thursday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 16 confirms that Brighton have agreed to send the 20-year-old on loan to the Stadio Olimpico, but the two clubs are still discussing the figures behind the deal.

According to the report, Roma want a loan deal with an option to buy for €25m, while Brighton are pushing for an obligation to buy at €45m.

The two clubs could meet halfway with Roma offering €35m for an option to buy, which will become an obligation to purchase under certain conditions.

Roma want 30 Ferguson goal involvements for permanent move in 2026

Gazzetta claims that Roma would be open to making the striker’s move permanent in 2026, as long as Ferguson achieves 30 goal involvements (considering goals and assists) in the 2025-26 season.

Roma are not the only Serie A club Brighton are talking to lately as Roberto De Zerbi’s former club have recently received an inquiry from Milan for Pervis Estupiñán, according to Matteo Moretto.
