Galatasaray have put their pursuit of Inter Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu on standby as agreeing a deal with Napoli for Victor Osimhen is the priority.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan were kept in suspense for weeks regarding the future of Hakan Calhanoglu.

The interest of Galatasaray in signing the 31-year-old was hardly a secret.

However, it was only in the past week that the Turkish champions have actually come forward with a bid.

And as it turns out, Galatasaray’s offer was quite an anticlimactic one. They only bid around €15 million – miles away from Inter’s valuation of Calhanoglu.

Galatasaray Put Calhanoglu Talks On Standby – Osimhen The Priority

Galatasray’s interest in signing Calhanoglu has not gone away entirely.

Far from it, in fact. Inter are still anticipating that the Istanbul giants will return at some point to try and reinitiate talks for the former AC Milan midfielder.

But at the moment, Galatasaray are going all-in trying to sign striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

The Nigerian spent last season on loan with the Turkish club. And they are ready to sign him on a permanent basis.

However, negotiations with Napoli have proven tricky. And signing Osimhen will require a gargantuan financial investment.

If Galatasaray are to succeed in signing Osimhen, then they can strategize the rest of their summer accordingly. Perhaps allocating funds to an improved bid for Calhanoglu.

On the other hand, if talks with Napoli for Osimhen fall through then Galatasaray will have both the resources and the motivation to sign Calhanoglu.

But right now, the talks for Hakan Calhanoglu are very much on the backburner.
