There are multiple reports of a big development at Milan, with suggestions Santiago Gimenez is now open to joining Roma in an exchange with Artem Dovbyk.

The striker’s disinterest in the idea of coming to the Stadio Olimpico had been the main problem in this potential transfer, as the Mexico international was determined to stay at San Siro.

Why Gimenez changed his mind

However, his attitude changed because he felt let down by the comments made by Milan director of sport Igli Tare, who stated openly to television cameras that he was ready to make the swap.

Gimenez saw this as a lack of support and therefore was prepared to walk away after just six months.

Sky Sport Italia, Radio Sportiva, Sportitalia, MilanNews.it and more all have the same version, that the striker is now open to the move.

Dovbyk has struggled to deal with both Serie A football and the tactics of Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini, so hopes to fit in better with Max Allegri’s approach.

Another problem is that Roma director Frederic Massara insisted last night on Sky Sport Italia that the negotiations had “not even started” for this exchange between Dovbyk and Gimenez.

Roma and Milan already swapped loans last summer on deadline day, with Tammy Abraham exchanging places with Alexis Saelemaekers.
