Talks between Inter Milan and Lazio over Nicolo Rovella are underway, with the Italian chosen to replace Hakan Calhanoglu.
Per Il Messaggero via FCInterNews, Claudio Lotitio won’t let the 23-year-old without a substantial transfer fee.
Nicolo Rovella has a significant €50 million release clause, with Lotito continuing to insist on it.
However, Inter won’t splash out that figure, though they’re willing to put forward a €40m bid.
But first, they must address the future of Hakan Calhanoglu.
Heavily linked with a move to Galatasaray, Calhanoglu looks eager to return to his homeland.
However, negotiations between the clubs have yet to gain momentum.
That’s because the Turkish giants are unwilling to go beyond the €20m threshold to close the deal.
Meanwhile, Inter are preparing for a worst-case scenario, with Rovella emerging as the top candidate to fill the vacancy.
At 23, he’s already an established Serie A star and a permanent fixture in the Italy national team.
Therefore, he ticks all the boxes for the type of player Beppe Marotta is keen to recruit.
