Inter Milan are reportedly confident of beating bitter rivals AC Milan to the signature of Parma starlet Giovanni Leoni.
Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Serie A runners-up remain in the driver’s seat.
Despite Milan’s attempt to hijack Inter’s long-term pursuit of Leoni, the Nerazzurri should still win the race.
Indeed, new Inter boss Cristian Chivu could be the catalyst to persuade the 18-year-old to choose the blue part of the city.
Chivu helped Leoni establish himself as a regular starter for Parma in the second half of the 2024/25 season.
Therefore, the youngster is looking for a reunion.
Parma paid Sampdoria just under €5 million to sign the prodigious defender last summer.
However, Leoni’s price has since skyrocketed, with the Crusaders now demanding around €20m to let him go.
Though Inter will probably aim to drive the price down, Parma remain firm in their valuation, knowing Leoni’s stock continues to rise.
Leoni isn’t the only Parma star closely followed by the Nerazzuri.
Indeed, Ange-Yoan Bonny ranks highly on the club’s list of targets.
