Atletico Madrid have shown interest in Inter Milan’s Carlos Augusto, but the San Siro club has reportedly rejected their approach.
Per Calciomercato, the Italian heavyweights have firmly rejected Los Colchoneros’ effort to sign the Brazilian.
Carlos Augusto joined Inter from Monza in the summer of 2023 for a reported fee of €13.25 million.
Furthermore, he signed a long-term contract at Giuseppe Meazza worth €2.2m net per season.
More importantly, he has proved a valuable asset.
After failing to sign AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez, Atletico Madrid have turned to Augusto.
However, the 26-year-old will stay at Inter and continue his growth under new boss Cristian Chivu.
Considered vital to Chivu’s project, Augusto could become a regular starter next season.
Indeed, he has already demonstrated his class in the FIFA Club World Cup early stages.
Therefore, Inter won’t listen to offers.
On the other hand, the Spaniards must turn to other targets to reinforce the left flank.
Liverpool’s Andy Robertson and Roma’s Angelino are reportedly on their shopping list.
