According to transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano, Milan made an attempt to sign AS Monaco defender Thilo Kehrer in the final days of the transfer window.
The Rossoneri were seeking a new centre-back after selling Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United.
Over the last few hours before the deadline, they had been in negotiations with Liverpool for Joe Gomez, but the Premier League side decided not to release him.
Instead, they picked up 19-year-old German talent David Odogu from Wolfsburg at a cost of circa €7m plus add-ons.
It would seem they had some other candidates for the position too, as Romano claims Milan had also made an attempt to sign Kehrer in the final days of the summer transfer session.
However, AS Monaco resisted and kept hold of the former Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United player.
A Germany international with 28 senior caps, he is under contract until June 2028.
