Report: La Liga stat leader an ‘object of desire’ for Tottenham, three other PL clubs keen

Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia has been linked with a move away from the Spanish club at the end of the season, and multiple Premier League clubs have been linked with him.

A report from Spanish publication AS have now name-dropped Tottenham as a potential interested party. The report claims that the 24-year-old goalkeeper is an ‘object of desire’ for several Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.

The player has a €25 million release clause in his contract, and it will be interesting to see if Spurs decide to make a move for him. He has been a long-term target for them.

Vicario has been inconsistent

Guglielmo Vicario has been inconsistent for Tottenham at times, and he has been criticised for his inability to deal with aerial balls.

It is a major weakness for Tottenham, and it will be interesting to see if they try and rectify that in the summer. There is no doubt that Garcia would be an exceptional acquisition for them.

Joan Garcia would be a superb addition

The 24-year-old has made the most number of saves in La Liga this season, and he is second only to Mark Flekken of Brentford in the whole of Europe.

He has been a key player for his club, and he has impressed with the Spanish national team as well. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can secure his signature. The reported asking price is quite reasonable, and Espanyol are under pressure to sell the player.

Tottenham should look to make the most of the opportunity and get the deal done. He could be a long-term asset for the club and an upgrade on Vicario. Tottenham need to improve their squad in the summer if they want to bounce back strongly next season. A reliable goalkeeper could make a big difference for them.
