Milan’s attempts to convince Mike Maignan to extend his contract could fall on deaf ears, with reports he informed the club his heart is set on Chelsea.

The goalkeeper is at a crossroads with his contract set to expire in June 2026.

Negotiations over a new deal had been going on for months, but stalled with the repeated coaching changes and the failure to qualify for Europe.

Maignan not prepared to sign new Milan deal

New boss Max Allegri had tried to talk Maignan into staying, yet today talkSPORT claim that the France international has made up his mind, informing Milan chiefs that he wants to join Chelsea.

It won’t be cheap, as the Rossoneri are still demanding €25m to make the sale, but the contract situation does rather force their hand.

There had already been reports that Milan were looking around for alternatives, including Roma’s Mile Svilar and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic of Torino.

Maignan turns 30 next month and was brought in from LOSC in 2021 for €16.4m as a replacement when Gianluigi Donnarumma left as a free agent for Paris Saint-Germain.
