Reports in Italy suggest Galatasaray tried to approach Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is down to the last year of his contract, but were rebuffed.

According to Sport Mediaset and DAZN transfer pundit Orazio Accomando, an attempt was made to contact the player’s entourage and see if he would be interested in pursuing a move to the Turkish Super Lig.

However, the response was wholly negative, categorically excluding the possibility of such a switch in the summer.

Maignan in no hurry to choose next step

Things might change in future, but having seen his potential move to Chelsea break down before the FIFA Club World Cup, Maignan is more eager to wait and choose his next destination carefully.

That could also mean running down his contract to June 2026, when he is allowed to leave as a free agent.

The 30-year-old joined Milan from Lille for €16.4m in the summer of 2021, when he was brought in as a replacement for free agent Gianluigi Donnarumma.

He has made 163 competitive appearances in the Milan jersey, winning the Serie A title and a Supercoppa Italiana trophy.
