A mistranslation of a France Football interview with Lautaro Martinez causes chaos & confusion surrounding the departure of Simone Inzaghi from Inter Milan.
This according to the Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908. They report that the translation published in the Ballon d’Or interview completely reversed the meaning of Martinez’s comments.
Yesterday, France Football published a lengthy interview with Inter captain Lautaro Martinez.
Among the most high profile topics that the Argentine discussed was the departure of coach Simone Inzaghi from Inter.
The interview rendered Martinez’s statements as being that “Our coach told us that he’d received an offer, and that he would be leaving.”
However, according to the Corriere dello Sport, that’s not what Martinez had said at all.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, the interview that France Football published completely misinterpreted what Martinez had actually said.
The Inter captain had said that Inzaghi had “never” mentioned leaving or receiving an offer from Al-Hilal.
However, whether due to a mishearing or mistranslation, that word was left out of the translation that France Football published.
Therefore, the quote appeared to indicate that Martinez was saying Inzaghi told Inter’s players he’d be leaving.
Naturally, this has caused something of a stir. Inter’s official messaging regarding Inzaghi’s departure has always been that he left after the Champions League final.
