Thursday’s reports claim that Premier League side Newcastle United made an unsuccessful approach for Inter striker and captain Lautaro Martinez, whose agent reportedly refused to even entertain an enquiry from the Magpies.

Reports claim Newcastle attempted to contact Lautaro Martinez

According to reports from Fox Sports Argentina (via Calciomercato.com ), Newcastle attempted to make an enquiry with Lautaro Martinez’s agent, as they continue to explore potential replacements for Alexander Isak, whose future remains unclear approaching the summer transfer deadline.

According to Thursday’s update, Newcastle tried to get in contact with Lautaro’s agent, Alejandro Camano, but the Argentine did not even pick up the phone to discuss a potential deal.

As quoted by Calciomercato, Camano said: “Lautaro plays for Inter, in the team that finished runners up in the Champions League. He is the captain of Inter, he is happy at Inter. There are certain questions that don’t even have an answer.”

It is understood that Lautaro has no intention of leaving Inter, where he is the club captain and has been the team’s leading goalscorer across all competitions for the last four consecutive seasons.

The 28-year-old is one of three Serie A representatives on the final shortlist for the 2025 Ballon d’Or , along with Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay and Nerazzurri teammate Denzel Dumfries.
