San Siro will miss out on hosting the 2027 Cham Gpions League (UCL) final after falling short on numerous UEFA requirements.
According to Il Giorno via FCInterNews, UEFA has ruled AC Milan and Inter’s stadium out of contention.
Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta yesterday warned the city council of San Siro’s inability to meet UEFA’s high standards.
Indeed, the famous venue is no longer eligible to host major international events.
Therefore, AC Milan and Inter are keen to purchase San Siro and the surrounding areas in order to build a new stadium.
However, they’ve encountered numerous obstacles down the road.
Despite bidding to host the 2027 Champions League final, San Siro can no longer compete with Europe’s elite stadiums.
As a result, the Milan clubs are desperate to build a new state-of-the-art arena.
In doing so, they would put one of the most iconic football stadiums back on the map.
Meanwhile, San Siro is at risk of being omitted as a host venue for EURO 2032.
Furthermore, UEFA has informed the Municipality of Milan that the stadium fails to meet several fundamental requirements.
