Inter Milan reportedly never tried to reopen talks for Ademola Lookman during negotiations over the transfer of Nicola Zalewski to Atalanta.
According to Matteo Moretto via FCInterNews, the two deals ran on separate tracks, without an attempt to make them correlate.
Despite Inter’s long-standing pursuit of Ademola Lookman, Atalanta never showed any ambition to discuss his sale.
Indeed, La Dea rejected two significant offers from the Nerazzurri after offloading Mateo Retegui to Saudi Arabia.
However, Inter kept pushing until they finally gave up in early August.
Although Atalanta slammed the door shut for Lookman’s transfer, they approached Inter to negotiate the deal for Nicola Zalewski.
Furthermore, the clubs found an agreement relatively quickly.
Indeed, Zalewski joined the Bergamo outfit for a reported fee of €17 million.
Many had speculated at the time that Inter sanctioned the deal as part of a last-ditch effort to reignite talks for Lookman.
However, that was not the case.
